“I am Vigro Deep” – Weekend Turn Up tells the “Untold Story”

31.12.2021

Weekend Turn Up, powered by adidas, met with Vigro Deep, highly-respected DJ and record producer to find out where this sensational is headed and his plans to conquer the world.

Born in Atteridgeville (as Kamogelo Phetla) he vibed the streets of Tshwane with his style of amapiano, breaking through boundaries and setting South Africa ablaze with an innovative sound inspired by his home city.

Vigro Deep is an incredibly hard worker – he became famous while still in school which he left (in 10th grade) to pursue his career. He’s so focused that he can only throw all his passion into one thing at a time, but plans to finish his schooling, emphasising that education is a lifetime skill.

Meanwhile, he’s using far more than his talent and street smarts. Vigro Deep is a born entrepreneur with a wisdom beyond his years. Combining his heart for music and a head for business, he founded a company called Baby Boy 012 and is also a partner and share holder in Topnotch entertainment.

While guided by industry mentors and legends, including his father (Victor “DJ Spring” Ngcongwana), he is also fiercely independent and not tied to any record label, which gives him full control of his beats and tracks, live and online performances.

Deeply-loved in South Africa, Vigro Deep has also thrilled fans in other countries, including Botswana and Mozambique, with his live shows. The UK was equally as receptive when he unleashed the new (to them) amapiano genre.
